Basketball Recap: Rosman Comes Up Short

Rosman lost against Mitchell last Thursday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Rosman Tigers had to suffer through a 57-19 loss at the hands of the Mitchell Mountaineers. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 491st, while the Mountaineers are ranked 201st).

Aniya Swartz and Marlee Carnathan certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Swartz went 5 of 10 to rack up 10 points and six boards, while Carnathan posted six points and five assists.

Even though they lost, Rosman smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive matches.

Rosman has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season. As for Mitchell, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rosman will take on NCSSM: Morganton at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rosman is facing NCSSM: Morganton at the right time seeing as NCSSM: Morganton is stuck on a 16-game losing streak. As for Mitchell, they will face off against Avery County at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Avery County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.7 points per game this season.
