Softball Recap: Cheboygan Takes a Loss

The Cheboygan Chiefs didn't have quite enough to beat the Kalkaska Blazers on Monday and fell 4-3.

Lydia Kosanke was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Kosanke was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run. That run marked the first that she has scored this season.

In other batting news, Bea Schulz was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run. She also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season.

Cheboygan dropped their record down to 1-7 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for Kalkaska, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-5.

Coming up, Cheboygan will host Alpena at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Kalkaska, they will take on Traverse City Central at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
