Baseball Game Preview: Oak Ridge Wildcats vs. Daniel Boone Trailblazers

The Oak Ridge Wildcats will face off against the Daniel Boone Trailblazers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Daniel Boone will be up against a hot Oak Ridge squad: the team just extended their winning streak to 14. The Wildcats blew past Science Hill 11-2 on Friday. Oak Ridge's win was all the more impressive since the Hilltoppers were averaging only 3.42 runs allowed on the season.

Meanwhile, Daniel Boone never let their opponents score on Friday. They put the hurt on Smoky Mountain with a sharp 18-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trailblazers.

T J Leonard and Jackson McCurry did most of the damage at the plate: Leonard went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base, while McCurry went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave McCurry a new career-high. Tanner Orth was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Daniel Boone kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.

Oak Ridge's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 25-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Daniel Boone, their win bumped their record up to 22-8-1.

Oak Ridge took their victory against Daniel Boone in their previous meeting back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 9-1 score. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Trailblazers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
