Brooke Lordino commands the offense for Rangers win

Recap: Lewis-Palmer Rangers vs. Pueblo East Eagles

The Lewis-Palmer Rangers had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Pueblo East and snuck past 38-35. Given Lewis-Palmer's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while Pueblo East is ranked 209th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lewis-Palmer's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brooke Lordino, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kendall Lane, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and two blocks.

Despite the loss, Pueblo East saw an underclassman step up: Myah Abeyta scored 21 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ilyne Avila, who scored four points along with nine rebounds and three steals.

Lewis-Palmer's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3. As for Pueblo East, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

Lewis-Palmer will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Air Academy at 5:30 p.m. Air Academy is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 61.7 points per game. As for Pueblo East, they will head out on the road to square off against Harrison at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
