Southern Connecticut Division I - East recap October 22, 2013

Adding to the longest winning streak in Southern Connecticut Division I - East this week, West Haven beat Xavier 35-34. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Blue Devils.

West Haven and the Falcons played the most contested game in the league this week, with West Haven eventually emerging with a 35-34 victory. Duane Gary ran for 162 yards in the win.

Nick van Dell threw for 221 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Gary was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 162 yards on 15 carries as Ed McCarthy's team bested Fairfield Prep. Ervin Philips also contributed to the rushing game with 120 yards on the ground.

5-foot-10 quarterback van Dell of the Tigers is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,102. He has also thrown 11 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Elijah Long. The Wilbur Cross star has 32 catches for 433 yards.

Notre Dame took down Amity Regional 38-20 last week, the largest margin of any game. Sal Esposito ran for 157 yards during the win.
