Civic Memorial and Alton are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2015, but likely not for long. The Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Redbirds at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Neither Civic Memorial nor Alton posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Meanwhile, Alton fell victim to Belleville East and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Lancers, falling 16-0. The Redbirds haven't had much luck with the Lancers recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Civic Memorial's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 10-5. As for Alton, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.

Alton's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Civic Memorial hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. It's a different story for Alton, though, as they've only averaged .222. Will they be able to contain Civic Memorial's hitters?

Civic Memorial took their victory against Alton in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
