Baseball Recap: Olpe Comes Up Short

After some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last four games, Olpe finally came back down to earth on Monday. They fell just short of the Mission Valley Vikings by a score of 3-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Vikings: they've now lost five in a row.

Olpe's loss dropped their record down to 15-5. As for Mission Valley, their victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-2.

Looking ahead, Mission Valley will challenge Council Grove at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Braves' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Vikings' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Olpe will be paying especially close attention to Mission Valley's matchup: after Mission Valley faces off against Osage City, they'll take on Olpe again on Monday.
