Softball Recap: La Plata Warriors vs. Northern Patriots
If La Plata was riding high fresh off their 14-1 takedown of St. Charles on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Warriors fell just short of the Northern Patriots by a score of 6-5 on Wednesday. The Warriors have struggled against the Patriots recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.
Rylee Dennison was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she didn't allow a single earned run over 5.1 innings pitched. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in March.
At the plate, Payton Buckler made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
La Plata's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Northern, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 12-6.
