Baseball Recap: Tarboro's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Tarboro had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Hobbton Wildcats by a score of 5-2. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Vikings also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2016.

Cole Craddock was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out 17 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits (and only one walk). He has become a key player for Tarboro: the team is undefeated when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 7-9 otherwise. Craddock was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mason Satterfield, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

Tarboro moved to 13-9 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Hobbton, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 15-9.

Coming up, Tarboro will take on Perquimans on Friday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pirates have averaged an impressive 10 runs per game this season. Hobbton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
