Softball Recap: Grandview Greyhounds vs. Selah Vikings
Grandview extended their losing streak to six on Friday, dropping their season record down to 4-8-2 in the process. They lost 18-4 to the Selah Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 28-2 on Friday.
As for Selah, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-1. Considering they have won nine matches by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
For Selah's part, Aspin Grubenhoff and Hailey Christianson were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Grubenhoff pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Christianson pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Grubenhoff has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Grubenhoff went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Christianson got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Laci Ross, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That home run was her first of the season. Ellie Urlacher was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run.
