Baseball Recap: Island Coast Takes a Loss

Island Coast managed to slip by Gulf Coast the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Island Coast lost 8-2 to Gulf Coast on Tuesday. That makes it the first time this season the Gators have let down their home crowd.

Ryan Mueller was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Island Coast saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nate Jaquez, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Those two hits gave Jaquez a new career-high.

Island Coast suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 13-5. As for Gulf Coast, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-8.

Looking ahead, Island Coast will take on Miami Beach at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Gulf Coast, they will venture away from home to square off against Riverdale at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
