Preview: Fultondale Wildcats vs. Carver Birmingham Rams
Fultondale has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. Having just played yesterday, they will head out on the road to face off against the Carver Birmingham Rams at 2:30 p.m. on December 21st. Fultondale comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
On Wednesday, Fultondale took a serious blow against Wenonah, falling 54-15. While losing is never fun, Fultondale can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 378th, while Wenonah is ranked 48th).
Meanwhile, Carver Birmingham's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They suffered a rough 58-33 loss at the hands of Gardendale.
Fultondale's loss was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-11. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.8 points per game. As for Carver Birmingham, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.
Fultondale won a game that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, slipping by Carver Birmingham 35-34. Does Fultondale have another victory up their sleeve, or will Carver Birmingham turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
