Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Muir). Everything went their way against the Glendale Nitros on Tuesday as they made off with a 17-5 win. The victory continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Nitros: they've now won five in a row.
Gianna (GiGi) Butler was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Erica Wallace was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-1. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Thembi Swain, who scored three runs and stole a base.
Muir always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Glendale only posted an OBP of .391.
Muir's win bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Glendale, their loss was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-10-1.
Muir has already played their next matchup, a 4-3 victory against Glendora on the 16th. As for Glendale, they will take on Crescenta Valley at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Falcons will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Nitros surely won't give up without a fight.
