New Hope won against Pontotoc last Tuesday with four runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Trojans came out on top against the Warriors by a score of 4-1. The Trojans are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 11 straight.
Kaselyn Harcrow made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Lexi McBrayer was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
New Hope hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pontotoc struck out ten times.
New Hope pushed their record up to 17-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Pontotoc, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-8.
Looking ahead, New Hope will challenge Lafayette at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pontotoc, they will take on Nettleton at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 1.7 runs per game this season, so the Warriors' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
