Basketball Recap: Jefferson-Morgan Extends Winning Streak to Two

Jefferson-Morgan won the last time they faced Bentworth and Dayten Marion did his part to make sure it happened again. The Rockets snuck past the Bearcats with a 38-33 victory on Tuesday thanks in part to Marion, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds. He is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in each of the last 17 games he's played dating back to last season.

Several Bearcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ben Hays, who posted 12 points and eight boards. That was a full 36.4% of Bentworth's points, marking the third time in a row Hays has put up more than a third of the team's points. Ryan Moessner was another key player, putting up nine points and five rebounds.

Jefferson-Morgan has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. As for Bentworth, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-1.

Jefferson-Morgan and Bentworth will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Rockets will face off against rival Burgettstown at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Bentworth is set to square off against their familiar foe Riverview at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
