Softball Game Preview: Mars Fightin' Planets vs. South Fayette Lions

The Mars Fightin' Planets will take on the South Fayette Lions at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Mars hasn't scored more than two runs for three games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Mars' offense. They came up short against Knoch on Wednesday, falling 11-0. The match marked the first time this year in which the Fightin' Planets were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Fayette). They put the hurt on Keystone Oaks with a sharp 17-1 win on Wednesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Lions with their most commanding win of the season.

Mars' loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for South Fayette, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Mars couldn't quite get it done against South Fayette when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 14-10. Can Mars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
