Basketball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Columbia

After losing to Nampa the last time they met, Columbia decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Columbia Wildcats blew past the Nampa Bulldogs 63-42 on Wednesday. That looming 63-42 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Wildcats yet this season.

Columbia was led to victory by Blake Hansen and Marcus Deleon. Hansen shot 4-for-7 from downtown and almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine boards, while Deleon went 8 of 10 en route to 19 points. With that strong performance, Hansen is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Another player making a difference was Max Keller, who posted ten points and six assists.

The win (which was Columbia's fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-6. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.6 points per game. As for Nampa, they dropped their record down to 2-8 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Columbia Wildcats duke it out with the Caldwell Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Columbia is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.4 points per game this season. As for Nampa, they will challenge Middleton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Middleton will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Nampa surely won't give up without a fight.
