Softball Recap: Five Straight Road Victories for Flat Rock

Flat Rock had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Carlson on Saturday. The Rams put the hurt on the Marauders with a sharp 13-3 win. The victory continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Marauders: they've now won six in a row.

Emma Neace spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits.

On the hitting side, Addi Kopp and Avery Mack did most of the damage at the plate: Kopp went 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple, while Mack went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That triple was Kopp's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Sarah Giroux, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Flat Rock kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matches.

Flat Rock pushed their record up to 9-10 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Carlson, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season.

Flat Rock will have a chance to go back-to-back against Carlson: the pair will be back at it again later today.
