Soccer Game Preview: Sierra vs. Central Catholic

The Sierra Timberwolves will head out to face off against the Central Catholic Raiders at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Sierra is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.5 goals per game this season.

Sierra took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Mountain House, sneaking past 3-2. Given the Timberwolves' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 236th, while the Mustangs are ranked 543rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sierra hit Mountain House with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Neddy Ramos, Aydin Akca, and Alejandro Sanchez.

Meanwhile, Central Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Manteca.

Sierra's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 23 goals over those five games. As for Central Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.

Everything went Sierra's way against Central Catholic in their previous meeting on Monday, as Sierra made off with a 6-1 win. In that match, Sierra amassed a halftime lead of 3-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
