Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Vermilion Catholic). Everything went their way against the Highland Baptist Christian Bears on Thursday as Vermilion Catholic made off with a 17-4 win. The Eagles not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 1, 2024.

Vermilion Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 3-5-1. As for Highland Baptist Christian, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-9.

The future could be bright for both Vermilion Catholic and Highland Baptist Christian: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Vermilion Catholic will try to hand St. Martinville their eighth-straight loss when the two meet at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Highland Baptist Christian will look to extend Lafayette Renaissance Charter Academy's seven-game losing streak when they meet at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
