Softball Recap: Millville Quakers vs. Montgomery Red Raiders

Millville had lost seven straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 1-10 to make it eight. They came up short against the Montgomery Red Raiders, falling 19-3. The Quakers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Red Raiders from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

As for Montgomery, the win keeps they at an undefeated 9-0. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 14.7 runs this season.

For Montgomery's part, Jenna Houseknect made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Houseknect has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, Montgomery got a massive performance out of Ava Hartman, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave Hartman a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Madisyn Miller, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.

Looking ahead, Millville will welcome Muncy at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Montgomery, they will head out on the road to challenge Benton at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Red Raiders are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
