Baseball Game Preview: Bridgeport Central Hilltoppers vs. Greenwich Cardinals

Bridgeport Central is 1-9 against Greenwich since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Hilltoppers will head out to challenge the Cardinals at 10:00 a.m. Bridgeport Central has given up an average of 12.1 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Bridgeport Central is headed into Saturday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their tenth straight game on Thursday. They came up short against McMahon, falling 17-1.

Greenwich not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 23, 2024 (when they won 21-6). They blew past Danbury 8-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cardinals.

Luke Langhorne spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Emerson Bulis, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Greenwich is undefeated when Bulis posts one or more home runs, but 2-10 otherwise. Luke Tocci was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Greenwich always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.

Greenwich's record now sits at 5-10. As for Bridgeport Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-13.

Bridgeport Central suffered a grim 21-6 defeat to Greenwich in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Hilltoppers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
