Ripley has gone a perfect 4-0 against Lincoln County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Vikings will look to defend their home field against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Lincoln County will be up against a hot Ripley team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. The Vikings' pitchers stepped up to hand Shady Spring a 15-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by ten runs or more this season.
Jackson Curry made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Curry was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Ripley got a massive performance out of Landon Meadows, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that Meadows launched this season. Eli Phalen was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Ripley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lincoln County). They blew past Hannan 27-6 on Saturday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Panthers considering their one-run performance the game before.
Ripley pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average this season. As for Lincoln County, their win ended a 16-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-4.
Ripley took their victory against Lincoln County when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-2 score. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
