Baseball Game Preview: Hoover Patriots vs. Buchanan Bears

The Hoover Patriots will face off against the Buchanan Bears at 10:00 a.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Hoover comes in on nine and Buchanan on 12.

On Thursday, Hoover was able to grind out a solid win over Madera South, taking the game 7-3.

A J Escamilla tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Lashawn Carey was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Robert Herrera, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Buchanan won against Central on Wednesday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Bears walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Grizzlies. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Hoover pushed their record up to 9-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games. As for Buchanan, their win bumped their record up to 12-2.
