Preview: St. Augustine Saints vs. St. Bonaventure Seraphs
After three games on the road, St. Augustine is heading back home. They will take on the St. Bonaventure Seraphs at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only St. Augustine walked away with it. They didn't even let the Grizzlies onto the board and left with a 13-0 victory on Friday.
St. Augustine found their leader in underclassman Honor Faalave-johnson, who rushed for 46 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, St. Bonaventure came tearing into Saturday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 points) and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 24-21 win over Warren. The score was all tied up 7-7 at the break, but St. Bonaventure was the better team in the second half.
Among those leading the charge was Koen Glover, who rushed for 130 yards and three touchdowns.
St. Bonaventure's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Matt Perez was especially locked on to Warren's QB and sacked him twice.
St. Augustine is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for St. Bonaventure, they pushed their record up to 11-3 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home.
