Soccer Game Preview: Stevenson vs. Palma

The Stevenson Pirates will take on the Palma Chieftains at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Stevenson has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with three straight defeats, while Palma will come in with four straight wins.

Last Thursday, Stevenson came up short against King City and fell 4-2. That's two games in a row now that the Pirates have lost by exactly two goals.

Meanwhile, Palma kept a clean sheet against Pajaro Valley on Thursday. They skirted past the Grizzlies 1-0. Given the Chieftains' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 163rd, while the Grizzlies are ranked 730th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Palma pushed their record up to 12-3-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those four games. As for Stevenson, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10-3.
