Basketball Recap: Summers County Bobcats vs. Midland Trail Patriots
Summers County unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 63-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Midland Trail Patriots on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bobcats of the 61-53 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February.
Midland Trail's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Payton Bailes, who posted 19 points and five assists. Those five assists gave Bailes a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Thad Brown, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 15 points and eight rebounds.
The win got Midland Trail back to even at 1-1.
Summers County will head out to take on James Monroe at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Midland Trail, they will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Greenbrier West at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
