Softball Recap: Naperville Central Takes a Loss

Naperville Central fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Plainfield North on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 13-12. The defeat continues a trend for the Redhawks in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost four in a row.

Riley Silvers was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Jamie Saran was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four RBI and one double.

Naperville Central's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Plainfield North, their win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-8.

Coming up, Naperville Central will face off against Plainfield East at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bengals' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Redhawks' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Plainfield North, they will challenge St. Charles East at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Fighting Saints will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight.
