Recap: Mechanicsville Mustangs vs. Dinwiddie Generals
The Mechanicsville Mustangs can now show off ten landslide victories after their most recent contest on Monday. They blew past Dinwiddie 88-41 on the road. Mechanicsville's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Mechanicsville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kate Carlton out in front who scored 29 points along with eight rebounds. It was the first time this season that Carlton pulled down eight or more rebounds. Elizabeth Hardwick was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Dinwiddie lost, one person who can't be blamed is Madison Batts. Despite the final result, she scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carolina Berry, who scored six points.
Mechanicsville is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Dinwiddie, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.
Mechanicsville won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Henrico at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. Henrico will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Mechanicsville surely won't give up without a fight. As for Dinwiddie, they and Prince George will face off at 7:15 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
