Softball Recap: Marshfield Comes Up Short

Marshfield fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Lakeland on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Thunderbirds by a score of 3-2. That makes it the first time this season the Tigers have let down their home crowd.

Molly Fox spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Marshfield saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lydia Garvin, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Marshfield's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Lakeland, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Marshfield and Lakeland will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Tigers are set to take on their familiar foe Merrill at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Lakeland will challenge rival Medford at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
