Basketball Game Preview: Shawnee Redskins vs. Century Centurions

Shawnee is 1-9 against Century since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Shawnee Redskins will welcome the Century Centurions at 5:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Shawnee sitting on seven straight wins and Century on three.

While Shawnee didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They secured a 39-33 W over Cobden on Thursday.

The match pitted two dominant centers against one another in Emma Young and Natalie Franklin. Young had a solid game and posted 19 points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals. Meanwhile, Franklin was balling out in the loss, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 12 boards.

Meanwhile, Century escaped with a win on Tuesday against Elverado/Zeigler-Royalton by the margin of a single free throw, 46-45.

Shawnee better keep an eye on Nevaeh Mackins. She was instrumental in Century's win, putting up 19 points. Kali Crain was another key player, scoring 12 points.

Shawnee pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.0 points per game. As for Century, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.
