Big Walnut waltzed into their contest on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the St. Francis DeSales Stallions. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Big Walnut got the one that really mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 17-25, 25-20.

Big Walnut's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Peyton Gordon led the charge by getting five digs and three aces.

Gordon wasn't the only good server: Big Walnut was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in seven consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Big Walnut's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for St. Francis DeSales, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.
