Basketball Recap: Hamilton County Comes Up Short

Hamilton County fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Lafayette on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Lafayette Hornets by a score of 63-61. That's two games in a row now that the Trojans have lost by exactly two points.

Despite the loss, Hamilton County still got an impressive performance from Kavon Horne, who posted 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Tabor, who scored ten points.

Leading Lafayette to victory were Jadarius McQuay and Tywan Williamson. McQuay went 6 for 11 en route to 13 points and eight boards, while Williamson went 5 of 7 on his way to 12 points in addition to eight rebounds and six assists. That's the most rebounds Williamson has posted since back in January of 2024. Jordan Murphy was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Hamilton County has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season. As for Lafayette, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Hamilton County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 76-41 loss against Union County on the 31st. Lafayette has also already played their next matchup, a 46-26 defeat against Chiefland on the 31st.
