Basketball Recap: Jacksonville Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Jacksonville can now relate to. They took a blow against the Seventy-First Falcons on Tuesday, falling 79-43. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cardinals of the 72-52 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Despite the loss, Jacksonville still got an impressive performance from Christian Peaks, who posted ten points and five rebounds. Deondrea Gill was another key player, putting up six points along with nine boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Jacksonville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Jacksonville has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. The victory (which was Seventy-First's 13th in a row) raised their record to 21-3.

Jacksonville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Seventy-First, they will face off against Westover at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
