Softball Recap: Nickerson Takes a Loss

Nickerson extended their losing streak to 12 on Friday, dropping their season record down to 2-13 in the process. They lost 10-0 to the Haven Wildcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 17-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Nickerson saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaitlyn Kreutzer, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

As for Haven, they pushed their record up to 13-3 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games.

On Haven's side, Avery Brawner made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Brawner has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Haven let Morgan O'Neal and Sophia Faidley run wild. O'Neal went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI, while Faidley went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was Faidley's first of the season. Ella Bontrager was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Haven beat Nickerson by a score of 16-1 later that day.
