Baseball Recap: Westminster Catawba Christian Comes Up Short

Westminster Catawba Christian lost against Community Christian Academy back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Westminster Catawba Christian fell just short of Community Christian Academy by a score of 8-7.

Braden Campolo put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

Campolo wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brooks Minarik, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Westminster Catawba Christian is 2-1 when Minarik posts two or more runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Another was James Reinhardt, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Even though they lost, Westminster Catawba Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Westminster Catawba Christian now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Community Christian Academy, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-1.

Coming up, Westminster Catawba Christian will venture away from home to challenge Hickory Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
