Baseball Game Preview: Roosevelt Rough Riders vs. Torres Toros

Roosevelt is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Torres is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Rough Riders will welcome the Toros at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Roosevelt is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They blew past Boron 14-7. The Rough Riders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Cerrato Xamuel made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, earning one RBI and two stolen bases.

In other batting news, Molano Manuel was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Roberson Brian, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Roosevelt always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Boron only posted an OBP of .351.

Torres not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 30th (when they won 10-2). Everything went their way against Rosamond as they made off with a 13-5 victory. Torres' win was all the more impressive since the Roadrunners were averaging only 3.86 runs allowed on the season.

Roosevelt's victory bumped their record up to 20-7-2. As for Torres, the win got them back to even at 15-15.

Roosevelt got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April against Torres by a conclusive 13-0 score. Will the Rough Riders repeat their success, or do the Toros have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
