Basketball Game Preview: Avondale Yellowjackets vs. Ferndale Eagles

The Avondale Yellowjackets will challenge the Ferndale Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Avondale took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with a 59-50 win over Adams. Given the Yellowjackets' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 88th, while the Highlanders are ranked 320th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Ferndale's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 67-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Clarkston. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (55), the Eagles still had to take the loss.

Avondale's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-6. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.5 points per game. As for Ferndale, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-12.
