Baseball Recap: Clay County's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Clay County's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Pickett County Bobcats 16-15. The win was some much needed relief for the Bulldogs as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Witt Kaslikowski made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kolton Brown, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Reece Adams, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Clay County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .436. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Clay County's record now sits at 6-10. As for Pickett County, they moved to 7-7 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Clay County beat the Bobcats by a score of 10-8 on Tuesday.
