Recap: Alexandria City Titans vs. South County Stallions
The Alexandria City Titans waltzed into their matchup Thursday with eight straight wins but they left with nine. They snuck past South County with a 59-55 win. Given Alexandria City's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while South County is ranked 75th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Alexandria City to victory were Kye Robinson and Darius Bivins. Robinson scored 20 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Bivins scored 24 points along with four steals. That makes it 12 consecutive games in which Robinson has scored at least 25% of Alexandria City's points. Tarik Sesay was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Alexandria City pushed their record up to 10-2 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points per game. As for South County, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-4.
Alexandria City will face off against John Marshall at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for South County, they will head out on the road to face off against Woodson at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
