The Rancho Cotate Cougars will square off against the Livermore Cowboys at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Rancho Cotate is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-5 margin over Justin-Siena. That looming 12-5 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Cougars yet this season.

Stephen Scott was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one RBI. Rancho Cotate is undefeated when Scott posts two or more runs, but 10-12 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jett Derammelaere, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Rancho Cotate was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Livermore beat Alhambra 6-2 on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cowboys.
Braden Ford made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
In other pitching news, Ryker Bortoli looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.
Ford wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was AJ Cook, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
The win snapped Rancho Cotate's losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 14-12 record. As for Livermore, their record now sits at 14-11.
Rancho Cotate couldn't quite get it done against Livermore in their previous meeting back in March of 2017 as they fell 3-0. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
