Softball Recap: Queen Creek Extends Winning Streak to Three

Queen Creek won the last time they faced Mountain View and things went their way on Thursday too. The Queen Creek Bulldogs put the hurt on the Mountain View Toros with a sharp 13-3 victory. That's two games straight that the Bulldogs have won by exactly ten runs.

The team relied heavily on Alessia Velazquez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kayla Porter, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Queen Creek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win was the third in a row for Queen Creek, bringing their record for this year to 6-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mountain View, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-3.

Coming up, Queen Creek will be taking part in a tournament against Mountain Ridge at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Queen Creek knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Mountain Ridge likes a good challenge. As for Mountain View, they will take on Hamilton in a tournament on Thursday. Hamilton's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Mountain View's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
