The Clare Pioneers will take on the St. Louis Sharks at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. Louis took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Clare, who comes in off a win.
Clare is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Farwell get on the board and left with a 17-0 win on Tuesday. The Pioneers haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Jayden Arthur was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. Arthur was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That double was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Chase Randall was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dane Alexander, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple.
Clare always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, St. Louis was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 21st straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Bullock Creek, falling 16-2.
St. Louis saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Thailan Raby, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Raby is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
The win got Clare back to even at 3-3-1. As for St. Louis, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
