Football Recap: West Shores Falls to Borrego Springs in First Game of Season

West Shores had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They were outmatched by the Borrego Springs Rams and fell 58-24. The loss continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Rams: they've now lost six in a row.

When it comes to explaining why West Shores lost on Friday, don't look at Jesus Perez. Despite the final result, he rushed for 188 yards and one TD on only 11 carries. Perez also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing one fumble and making ten total tackles.

Christopher Alcaraz had an outrageously good game for Borrego Springs as he threw for 194 yards and four touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. The dominant performance also gave Alcaraz a new career-high in passer rating (163.2). Josef Rocha was Alcaraz's top target, picking up 88 receiving yards and one TD, while also punching in one touchdown on the ground.

West Shores didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 60-20 defeat against Public Safety Academy on the 4th. As for Borrego Springs, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Calvin Christian at 6:30 p.m. on the 12th.
