Baseball Game Preview: Marquette Crusaders vs. Father McGivney Catholic Griffins

The Marquette Crusaders will challenge the Father McGivney Catholic Griffins at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Marquette is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over Lexington. The win was familiar territory for the Crusaders, who have now won 17 games in a row.

Meanwhile, Father McGivney Catholic had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it ten on Friday. They blew past the Indians 16-1.

Kannon Kamp was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Omar Avalos, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Father McGivney Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .579. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Father McGivney Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 38-3. As for Marquette, their win bumped their record up to 34-3.
