Recap: Sacred Heart Academy Spartans vs. Holy Cross Knights
The Sacred Heart Academy Spartans fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Holy Cross Knights on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Knights by a score of 58-55. Sacred Heart Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Holy Cross apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2022.
Holy Cross' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kyara Champagne, who scored 20 points along with 3 steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Champagne has scored at least 25% of Holy Cross' points. Another player making a difference was Jamie Davneiro, who scored 15 points along with 8 assists and 5 rebounds.
Sacred Heart Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Holy Cross, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.
Sacred Heart Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Moore Catholic at 1:30 p.m. on December 23rd. As for Holy Cross, they will head out on the road to face off against St. John's Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
