Football Recap: Kossuth Comes Up Short

If Kossuth was feeling good fresh off their 55-26 takedown of Nettleton last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Aggies came up short against the North Pontotoc Vikings on Friday, falling 33-13. The Aggies were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 27-7.

Dawson Weatherbee threw for 89 yards and one touchdown. Eli Tays was his top target, picking up 40 receiving yards.

Drew Winfun had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 230 yards and three TDs, while also rushing for 87 yards for North Pontotoc. Winfun has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Dee Slaughter also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.

Kossuth's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for North Pontotoc, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Kossuth and North Pontotoc will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Aggies will take on rival Booneville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, North Pontotoc is set to face off against their familiar foe New Albany at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
