Godby won the last time they faced Baker County and things went their way on Friday too. The Cougars secured a 17-13 W over the Wildcats. Those 17 points were actually the fewest the Cougars have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

A big part of Godby's victory came down to the chemistry between Landon Dougherty and his top target Jamarin Simmons. Dougherty threw for 175 yards and one TD while Simmons gained 67 total yards and two touchdowns.

One reason for the win was Godby's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Jaylen Lawson, Lazarus Chambers, and Willie Ponder, who each picked up one sack apiece. Qyntel Strong was another major factor on D, making 15 total tackles (1.0 for loss).

Baker County's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Hudson Register, who rushed for 109 yards and one touchdown, and Delynno Ruise, who rushed for 106 yards.

The win was the third in a row for Godby, bringing their record up to 3-3. As for Baker County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.

Godby didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 17-0 defeat against Niceville on the 3rd. As for Baker County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 49-6 victory against Halifax Academy on the 3rd.
