Basketball Recap: Coosa Christian Falls Short of Winterboro in the Playoffs

Coosa Christian and Winterboro squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Coosa Christian had to settle for second. They took a 60-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Winterboro Bulldogs.

Despite the defeat, Coosa Christian saw an underclassman step up: freshman Kylen Johnson went 8 of 16 on his way to 20 points. That was a full 35.7% of Coosa Christian's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of JAlan Terry, who put up eight points in addition to nine boards and five assists.

Coosa Christian's loss dropped their record down to 20-8. As for Winterboro, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-17 record this season.

Coosa Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Winterboro, they will square off against Oakwood Academy at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Winterboro's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five games.
