Basketball Recap: Columbia Continues Road Dominance on Wednesday

Columbia extended their road winning streak to six games thanks to a huge performance from Alyssa Goebel. The Columbia Raiders came out on top against the Brookside Cardinals by a score of 49-38 on Wednesday thanks in part to Goebel, who went 5 for 7 on her way to 12 points in addition to six steals and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in steals.

Natalie Miller was another key player, putting up 11 points and three steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played.

Brookside lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Bella Diaz, who posted 17 points. Another player making a difference was Bailey Brennen, who scored six points.

Columbia has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.6 points per game. As for Brookside, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Columbia will square off against Firelands at 7:00 p.m. on January 29th. Firelands will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Columbia surely won't give up without a fight. As for Brookside, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 52-31 defeat against Fairview on the 25th.
